On Saturday, November 15, TransitScreen CEO Matt Caywood participated remotely in the City of Phoenix’s PlanPHX workshop, showcasing the city’s 2015 General Plan. Mayor Greg Stanton actively facilitated a panel on “Tech + Transit: Moving Phoenix Forward,” and Caywood discussed several innovative technologies that can be built on top of Phoenix’s newly released real-time transit data. These innovative technologies include TransitScreen’s real-time local transportation information displays and SmartWalk projections, as well as commute planning tools like CarFreeAtoZ.

For several years, Phoenix’s Valley Metro had been the largest transit agency in the US without open transit data. But recently, under Mayor Stanton, Phoenix has released both Valley Metro schedule data, and real-time arrival information (announced just last week). We look forward to working with Valley Metro and the City of Phoenix to make it the next North American city for TransitScreen!
